Taurus Bookbindery has been binding family histories for over twenty years. We are often exhibitors at the California Geneaological Society annual conference. We have many samples of family histories that we have bound for others and would be happy to discuss your pending project.
Suggestions:
Use 8-1/2"x 11" format to keep the printing simple.
If you are planning to photocopy your project you should consider copy shops that have Docutech® or other digital printing methods.
We recommend that you use a paper with at least 25% rag (cotton) content.
Often a paper with texture (tooth) gives depth to the print and improves the appearance.
We recommend that you try samples of at least five different papers of different textures colors and finishes. Print a page of representative text and photo on each of the five papers. Compare the results side by side, and it will be easy to choose the right paper for your book.
Layout and design your book using a computer program that can output your text and images as Postscript® files. This will allow you to take advantage of high quality printing or copying services.
Taurus stocks over 100 different book cover fabrics.
We can stamp the title or family crest on your book's cover or spine.
We can bind an edition of fifty to 100 or more books in just two or three weeks.
We only do high quality hard cover bookbinding.
Public libraries have "oversewn" their books for decades in order to make them last. When comparing prices make sure that your bindery will "oversew" your books and not perfect bind or side sew. Remember that you want your books to last generations. Taurus Bookbindery can "oversew" your books.
